A Surprisingly Good Plate Of Sweet & Sour Prawns!

This is a really lovely dish of sweet and sour prawns. I love how easy it is to cook the dish, something that can be easily accomplished within a short span of 15min after I reach home from a day of work. The prawns are juicy and delicious eaten together with the gravy; the gravy goes so well with plain rice.

I also love how this dish has both proteins and vegetables served together on the same plate. It is the perfect excuse for me not to have to cook a second or third dish. The only down factor is that prawns are expensive after all, so I probably can’t be cooking this dish too often too.

Ingredients:

  • Oil: 2 tbsp
  • Garlic: 1 clove, finely chopped
  • Prawn: 80g, shelled & deveined
  • Tomato: 1, quartered
  • Onion: 1 small, sliced thickly
  • Tomato sauce: 1 tbsp
  • Vinegar: 1/2 tsp
  • Sugar: 1 tsp
  • Salt: 1/4 tsp
  • Fish sauce: 1 tsp
  • Cornflour: 1 tsp
  • Water: 2 tbsp
  • Coriander: 1 stalk, finely chopped

Method:

  1. Heat oil in wok. Saute garlic for 1min till browned.
  2. Add in prawns. Stir-fry for 1min.
  3. Add in tomato, onion, tomato sauce, vinegar, sugar, salt & fish sauce. Stir-fry 1min.
  4. Stir cornflour with water. Stir into mixture. Switch off heat.
  5. Garnish with coriander to serve.
