This romance-comedy has its story revolving around a sassy lawyer who helped to turn the life of a college boy around when she saved him from a murderer. That, in turn, led to her family and her own life being continuously threatened by the murderer after he was released from the prison. On the other hand, the college boy, who had the special ability to ‘hear’ someone else’s thoughts by looking into one’s eyes, had fastidiously decided to stay by the lawyer’s side to protect her and to repay her kindness. The combination of the lawyer’s wit and the boy’s special ability eventually helped to tide them through all the dangerous episodes in their life.
An immediate way to interpret the title was to think of it as a special power that the boy possessed – as an unwilling receiver of a power that allowed him to penetrate another person’s thoughts without the need for verbalisation. Another interpretation required one to delve deeper into the show to understand how the title could apply to the role of a lawyer – that of hearing and understanding from the perspective of one’s client. The latter interpretation was kindly offered to me by the Hallyu fan of Korean shows at home. 잘 했어!
Great comedy and thriller that brings out the legal genre in an exceptional manner. Watch it and love it, just like we did.
