It is simply impossible to decide which ingredient is king.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Here, it is an intent on my part to create a Christmas-like dish, by using as many greens as I can, so that cheese aficionados like me can savour every bite without guilt.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Ingredients<\/strong>:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Rice: 1\/2 cup<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Olive oil: 1 tsp<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Frozen spinach: 2 tbsp, defrosted<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Frozen mixed peas: 2 tbsp, defrosted<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hot dog: 1 stick, sliced<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Green peppercorns: 1\/2 tsp, crushed<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Basil leaves: 10 pieces, torn into smaller pieces<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Onions: 1\/3 of a whole, chopped<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Swiss Gruyere cheese: 50g, cubed<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Black peppercorns: freshly grated, to taste<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Parmesan cheese: 2 tsp<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Basil pesto sauce: 1 1\/2 tbsp<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nutmeg: a pinch<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cheddar cheese: 1 piece (I like Chesdale brand)<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Paprika: for serving<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Method<\/strong>:<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Microwave rice with olive oil for 20-25 min till cooked.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Spoon through the rice once and microwave again for 5 min till the risotto is beginning to turn crispy.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Leave rice aside to cool and preheat oven at 200 degrees.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Place spinach, mixed peas &amp; hot dogs into a 12cm (diameter) casserole.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Add rice to mixture, followed by peppercorns, 8 basil leaves, 2\/3 of chopped onions &amp; Gruyere cheese.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Add black peppercorns, 1 tsp Parmesan cheese, basil pesto sauce &amp; nutmeg. Mix well.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Place cheddar cheese slice on top of mixture. Top off with remaining onions, Parmesan cheese &amp; basil leaves.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Bake for 30 min.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sprinkle with paprika and serve hot.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em><strong>Tricks<\/strong>:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Replace Gruyere cheese with mozzarella cheese for a cheaper alternative.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Replace risotto with plain rice for an even cheaper alternative.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Basil leaves must be torn for it to give off its fragrance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Serving<\/strong>:<\/em><br \/>\n1 person<\/p>\n<div id=\"wp_fb_like_button\" style=\"margin:5px 5px 5px 0;float:left;height:40px;\"><script src=\"https:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/all.js#xfbml=1\"><\/script><fb:like href=\"https:\/\/peepor.net\/pint\/blog\/?p=124\" send=\"true\" layout=\"button_count\" width=\"450\" show_faces=\"true\" font=\"verdana\" action=\"like\" colorscheme=\"light\"><\/fb:like><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I finally know why baked dishes have such extensive names in recipe books.
