It is more similar to the <a href=\"https:\/\/peepor.net\/pint\/blog\/?p=11310\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Eurasian Birthday Mee<\/strong><\/a> than it is to my favourite <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/peepor.net\/pint\/blog\/?p=1641\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sotong Mee<\/a><\/strong> or the black version of stir-fried <a href=\"https:\/\/peepor.net\/pint\/blog\/?p=583\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Hokkien mee<\/strong><\/a> (my second favourite). Still nice though, and quite delectable. Can&#8217;t recall where I got this recipe from&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The hub recently found a hidden treasure near to the Springleaf MRT station (along the Thomson East Coast line) &#8211; Daruma Tavern, an interesting eatery that serves interesting Japanese beer and a really, really good bowl of sotong mee. Wow. You can taste the wok hei in the bee hoon and noodles, so yummy! I suddenly miss it so much, I wish I can go back again to Springleaf soon!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For now, it&#8217;s this wok of home-cooked Hokkien mee first.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/em>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lean pork: 75g, fats trimmed away<\/li>\n<li>Medium-sized squid: 1, ink sacs removed, washed<\/li>\n<li>Prawns: 75g, shells removed<\/li>\n<li>Oil: 2 tbsp<\/li>\n<li>Garlic: 1, finely chopped<\/li>\n<li>Shallot: 2, finely chopped<\/li>\n<li>Sugar: 1\/2 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Salt: 1\/4 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Ground white pepper: 1\/4 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Beansprouts: 150g<\/li>\n<li>Yellow noodles (flat): 250g<\/li>\n<li>Chive: 50g, cut into short lengths<\/li>\n<li>Fried shallot (optional): to garnish<\/li>\n<li>Chilli oil (optional): to serve with<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Method<\/strong><\/em>:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Parboil pork in pot with 3 cups water. Remove, cool and slice.<\/li>\n<li>Parboil squid in whole. Remove, cool, slice.<\/li>\n<li>Boil prawn shells in same stock as pork. Strain and reserve stock.<\/li>\n<li>Heat oil in wok. Saute garlic &amp; shallots till softened but not browned.<\/li>\n<li>Add pork, prawns and squid. Stir-fry till prawns are pink.<\/li>\n<li>Add stock, season with sugar, salt &amp; pepper.<\/li>\n<li>Bring to a boil. Add beansprouts, yellow noodles and chives.
