It’s a tree that’s supposed to be 1.5m in height, but because of the additional stand at the bottom, measures up to approximately 1.7m.

I love it. It was kind of like love at first sight. Firstly, the leaves were green. The boy and I decided we wanted a tree with green leaves because white ones just don’t measure up in Singapore (we don’t have snow anyway so it looks too fake). Secondly, we don’t want any glitters or snow glued to the leaves because over time, these add ons drop onto the floor like mad. We don’t need the additional mess at home. Third, we want the branches to open up in a way that makes the tree look ‘full’. This tree has luscious green spiky pine leaves in two different materials (a mixture of plastic and polyester) and I especially love the plastic spiky ones right at the top of the tree. Makes it look even more authentic.

I love the height of the tree because we live in an HDB flat, so we really don’t need anything bigger or taller – it would make it look like a sore giant in a small space. And the integrated lighting with different light settings – nothing beats having a Christmas light show right at home.

I bought a new batch of decorations too, and decided to push the boundaries a bit this year, getting in ribbons as well as some transparent hangings. I tried to keep the theme consistent, using the ligher shades such as golden, silver, yellow and some light green throughout. I love the effect of the ribbons, because it makes the tree look so much more elegant and lush. My other favourite was the set of six transparent tin soldiers – it was one of my favourite stories from young which was written by Hans Christian Andersen. Not sure how many kids still read his books nowadays though…

I also bought a big and nice golden star and placed it right at the top of the tree, but as you can see from the picture below, it’s kind of suffocated by a pig hanging right in front of it…

Perhaps something to consider next year will be a big basket base in which to place the stand and tree. That will be perfect.

Here’s wishing all Hungry Peepor followers a very merry Christmas ahead and a great festive season to come.
