Boy: Tales of Childhood\u00a0<\/em>written by Roald Dahl is the perfect place to start reading books from the author, one who had developed so many other wildly brilliant imaginative spins on fictional stories and narratives. It is an incredibly easy read that provides a fascinating and intimate look into the early life of somebody who understood the world of children better than almost anyone else.\u00a0<\/p>\n

What made this book shine was Dahl’s undeniable wit that stood out throughout his stories. He was a remarkably humorous writer, injecting witty thoughts even while recounting otherwise serious situations or dark accounts. His language was pristine yet simple. His gift for using words and vivid descriptions allowed me to capture his ideas fully, almost as if a movie was running inside my head while I flipped through his narrations. Adding to this cinematic experience are the simple yet captivating sketches provided generously throughout the book. These illustrations accompanying the narrative brought out an extra layer of charm and visual delight to his stories and memories.<\/p>\n

Boy<\/em> portrayed a childhood filled with immense warmth and love, centered around a closely-knit family. It was particularly moving to read about how his mother raised her children single-handedly as well as how strong-willed she was at resolving crises at home, such as when Dahl had a bad cut on his nose after their family car crashed. Her incredible strength and devotion in taking care of the family by herself touched my heart and made reading this book even more memorable.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Beyond the schoolboy pranks and eccentric life at the boarding schools in the early days of his childhood, the book took an exciting turn as he grew up into a fine young man. It was interesting to learn that he began his career as a hardworking salesman for Shell and was flying a fighter jet during the early days of World War II, right before he settled down as a writer.<\/p>\n

Boy<\/i> is a fast-paced, effortless read that completely gets you hooked to it. Dahl\u2019s ability to capture and hold your interest makes it almost impossible to put the book down. After turning the final page, I felt incredibly motivated to dive deeper into his catalog of books. I am feeling ready and excited to pick up his other books and kickstart the rest of my reading journey with Roald Dahl.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
