I really don&#8217;t see why there&#8217;s ever a need to make the pastry dough from scratch. Puff pastries are probably one of the best frozen foods invented since the 20th century.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>Ingredients<\/em><\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Butter: 1 tbsp<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">White onion: 1, chopped<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Leek: 1 stalk: chopped<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sausages (any flavour): 3 (about 225g), outer skin removed<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Salt: to taste<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ground black pepper: to taste<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Thymes: to taste<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Frozen puff pastry: 340g, left to defrost overnight<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mint leaves: 4 &#8211; 5 leaves, chopped<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cheddar cheese: for grating<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Egg: 1, beaten<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mixed herbs: for garnishing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>Method<\/em><\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Heat up butter in frying pan. Add onions and fry for 1 min.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Add leeks and fry till both leeks and onions are soft. Remove from heat.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Add sausages, salt, pepper and thymes into onions and leeks. Mix well and divide into 2 portions.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sprinkle flour onto a chopping board. Roll out puff pastry to the size of a rectangular baking tray.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Slice pastry into 2 long strips along the length.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Spread 1 portion of sausage mixture horizontally along the edge of each strip. The amount of spread should resemble that of the size of a sausage.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sprinkle mint leaves onto sausage meat. Grate cheese on top of it.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Brush the edge of the other end of the pastry with egg. Roll up pastry with sausage mix to meet the other end.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Use a fork to press down at the end of the rolls to form a pattern.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Glaze the top of the rolls with egg. Then sprinkle some mixed herbs on top of egg glazing.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Use a knife to slice the rolls to the desired size. Slice top of each roll with knife again to create another pattern.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Place all the rolls onto greased baking tray and bake at 180 degrees for 20 min.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/peepor.net\/pint\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Sausage-Roll-22.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Sausage Roll 2\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/peepor.net\/pint\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Sausage-Roll-22.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"510\" \/><\/a><strong><em><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Tricks<\/em>: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Grease the tray with as much oil as you can because the puff pastry sticks to it like mad during the baking.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">To make the rolls look much better than they taste, try to add something (sesame seeds, herbs) or create patterns (slice with knife, prick with fork) on top.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Use flavoured sausages (e.g. chipolata) so that there&#8217;s no need to do any more flavouring yourself.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">I tried a 2nd batch, this time with apple crumble sauce and just the sausage meat.
