And it just doesn&#8217;t stop there. I think of my family everyday &#8211; every single one of them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">My mum used to always make either chrysanthemum tea or barley drinks over the weekends for us. She says they&#8217;re good for health, especially during the hot and humid seasons in Singapore. I rarely drank them then, but now, I yearn for them badly.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>Ingredients<\/em><\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Water: 2 litres (about 8 cups)<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pearl barley: 120g, washed<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pandan leaves: 2, washed and knotted<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Rock sugar or winter melon: 100g<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Lemon: 1 slice (optional)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>Method<\/em><\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Bring water to the boil.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Add barley and pandan leaves into water. Leave to boil on high heat for 15min.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Add sugar or winter melon. Turn heat down to medium and leave to cook for 45min.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Serve with lemon slice.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>Tricks<\/em><\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">There tends to be a lot of barley pearls left over from the cooking.
