I believe there is a variety of chilli bean dips around, mostly Spanish in origin. My non-vegetarian version of this is &#8216;<strong><a title=\"Chilli Con Carne, Or Some Say \u2018Chilli\u2019 For Short\" href=\"https:\/\/peepor.net\/pint\/blog\/?p=7655\" target=\"_blank\">Chilli con Carne&#8217;<\/a><\/strong><em><\/em>, rightly cooked with minced meat and which is less of a paste than the one I am making here.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Ingredients<\/em><\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Kidney beans: 1 can (400g), drained, with juice reserved<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Olive oil: 2 tbsp<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Red onion: 1, large, finely chopped<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Green chilli: 2, finely chopped<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Chilli powder: 2 tsp<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cheddar cheese: 3\/4 cup (75g), grated<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Salt: 1 tsp<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ground blackpepper: to taste<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Red chilli: 1, halved,cored and sliced<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Lemon (optional): 1\/2<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>Method<\/em><\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Process all but 4 tbsp of kidney beans in blender to a puree.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Heat oil in wok.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Fry onions, green chillies and chilli powder till onions are softened.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Add kidney puree and 3 tbsp can juice into wok. Stir well.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Add whole kidney beans and all but 1tbsp cheese into wok.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Season with salt and pepper. Stir till cheese has melted.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Garnish with red chilli slices and remaining cheese.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Squeeze lemon juice onto dip and serve warm with pita bread or chips.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><em>Tricks<\/em>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Buying <strong><a title=\"Furmano's Kidney Beans\" href=\"http:\/\/www.webstaurantstore.com\/furmanos-kidney-beans-dark-red-in-brine-10-can\/99910283.html\" target=\"_blank\">canned kidney beans<\/a><\/strong> helps save the trouble of having to prepare and cook the beans beforehand. Apparently, if these beans are not cooked well at a high enough temperature, toxins could remain in the beans which could be harmful for the body. The juice of these canned beans also serve as a nice cooking base for such recipes.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Managed to find these nice <strong><a title=\"Tostitos Scoops! Tortilla Chips\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fritolay.com\/our-snacks\/tostitos-scoops-chips.html\" target=\"_blank\">Tostitos Scoops! Tortilla chips<\/a><\/strong> from the NTUC supermarket.
