The truth is that I bought water chestnuts instead of chestnuts to make the <strong><a title=\"Teochew Nonya Rice Dumpling\" href=\"https:\/\/peepor.net\/pint\/blog\/?p=5274\" target=\"_blank\">rice dumplings<\/a><\/strong> in my previous recipe&#8230; So now I know &#8211; chestnuts, which are real nuts, grow from branches which belong to the beech and oak genus; water chestnuts, on the other hand, are aquatic vegetables that grow beneath the ground.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">No regrets though, because it&#8217;s one of the most cooling and refreshing drinks to gulp down after a busy work day.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/em>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Water: enough to fill 3\/4 of a large pot (about 1.5 litres)<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Water chestnuts: 30 pieces, soaked in warm water for 1 hr, scrubbed, heads &amp; bottoms sliced off<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Winter melon: 50g<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Rock sugar: 100g<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><strong>Method<\/strong><\/em>:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Bring water to boil in a large pot. Add water chestnuts, winter melon &amp; sugar.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Simmer for 1 hr.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Remove from heat.
