The Japanese adapted the Indian version of curry to create a thicker and sweeter version of gravy which could be eaten not just with rice but also with noodles and bread.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is simple to make your own pot of Japanese curry nowadays, given that the Japanese curry roux (instant curry powder block) is widely sold in most local supermarkets. You could also make the roux from scratch if you have spare time on your hands (refer to the given link below).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/em>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Butter: 1 tbsp<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">White onion: 2, peeled &amp; sliced<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Boneless chicken: 1 kg, sliced<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Carrot: 2, sliced diagonally into chunks<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Water: 1 liter<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Honey: 1 tbsp<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Salt: 2 tsp<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Apple: 1 small, skin removed<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Potato: 2 large, peeled and quartered<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Japanese curry roux: 1 box (about 200g)<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Light soy sauce: 1 tbsp<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ketchup: 1 tbsp<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Method<\/strong><\/em>:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Heat butter in pot.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Add onions. Fry till translucent and onions are starting to brown (about 15min).<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Add chickens. Fry till browned.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Add carrots and water. Bring to boil. Remove scum and fats.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Add honey and salt. Grate in apple.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Leave to simmer uncovered for 15 min.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Add potatoes. Leave to simmer for 15 min.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dissolve the curry roux with a few scoops of the soup.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pour mixture back into soup. Stir to mix.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Stir in soy sauce and ketchup.
