However, given that I wasn&#8217;t feeling that well these days, I thought better of the grand idea and decided to do something simpler and less fanciful &#8211; a Croque-Monsieur less the croque-madame (top-yolk-egg) and fanfare.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/em>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Butter: 1 tsp + 3 tbsp<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Egg: 1<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Milk: 1\/4 cup<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ham: 3 slices, roughly chopped<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Country or soft white bread: 4 slices<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Egg (or plain) mayonnaise: 4 tbsp<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">White sharp cheddar: 2 slices<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sea salt: to taste<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Method<\/strong><\/em>:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Heat 1 tsp butter in saucepan over low heat.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Add eggs and milk and quickly whisk mixture together.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Lift pan off heat. Add ham. Return pan to low heat.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Stir mixture for another 15 seconds. Remove mixture from heat. Set aside.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Heat another 1 tbsp butter in pan.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Place 4 slices of bread onto pan. Cook till evenly browned (about 4 min).<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Remove bread onto a plate, cooked sides facing up.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Spread 1 tbsp mayonnaise onto the cooked sides of each bread.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Place 2 tbsp egg &amp; ham mixture onto mayonnaise of 2 slices of bread.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Top with 1 slice of cheese each and then place the remaining slices of bread on top of cheese slices, mayonnaise side down.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Heat remaining 2 tbsp butter in pan. Place the 2 sandwiches onto pan and cook till evenly browned (about 4 min).<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Flip sandwiches to the other side. Cook for another 4min till browned and the cheese has melted.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sprinkle some sea salt sparingly over sandwiches.
