{"id":814,"date":"2010-04-11T15:56:31","date_gmt":"2010-04-11T07:56:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/peepor.net\/pint\/blog\/?p=814"},"modified":"2015-09-23T22:11:47","modified_gmt":"2015-09-23T14:11:47","slug":"claypot-rice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peepor.net\/pint\/blog\/?p=814","title":{"rendered":"Microwavable Claypot Rice Without The Claypot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-840\" title=\"Claypot Rice\" alt=\"Claypot Rice\" src=\"https:\/\/peepor.net\/pint\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Claypot-Rice.jpg\" width=\"650\" height=\"416\" srcset=\"https:\/\/peepor.net\/pint\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Claypot-Rice.jpg 500w, https:\/\/peepor.net\/pint\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Claypot-Rice-300x192.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A dish cooked in a claypot should be served only if it can be served piping hot.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Given a desperate lack of time spent at home, I&#8217;ve decided to take the easy way out, thence the &#8216;microwavable claypot rice&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Ingredients<\/em><\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Chicken drumstick: 4, chopped into bite-sized chunks<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sesame oil: 2 tsp<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sweet soy sauce: 2 tbsp<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Oyster sauce: 2 tbsp<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Light soy sauce: 1 tbsp<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">White pepper: to taste<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Shaoxing wine: 2 tbsp<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Rice: 1 cup, washed and rinsed<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Water: a little less than 1.5 cups<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Chinese sausage: 2 sticks, skin removed, sliced<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Chinese mushroom: 4, soaked in water, halved<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Chinese parsley: 1 stalk, washed and chopped<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Kai Lan: 2 stalks, washed and chopped<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>Method<\/em><em>:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Marinate the chicken pieces with sesame oil, all the sauces, pepper and wine. Leave to marinate for 2 hours.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cook the rice with water in microwave on high for 10 min till boiling.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Add chicken, sausages, mushrooms and remaining sauces used for marination into rice.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Add 1\/2 of chopped parsley into rice. Leave in microwave to cook for 10min.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Add Kai Lan when the dish is almost done. Leave to microwave for another 3min.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Garnish with remaining parsley. Serve hot.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.peepor.net\/pint\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Clay-Pot-Rice.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Clay Pot Rice\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.peepor.net\/pint\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Clay-Pot-Rice.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"667\" \/><\/a><em><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Tricks<\/em><\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Use a <a title=\"Ceramic Bowl\" href=\"http:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/6\/61\/Simple-ceramic-bowl.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">microwavable ceramic bow<\/span><\/strong>l<\/a> to achieve the crispy charcoal-burnt rice at the sides of the bowl.<\/li>\n<li>Add ready-made fried shallots for added crisp in every bite of the rice.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Do not use the same amount of water as you normally do for cooking white rice, or else it will become claypot porridge.
