We both saw the packet of habaneros. We decided to buy it and bring it back home with us.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But what does one actually do with a whole packet of habaneros? Well, the first thing that came to my mind was habanero wings, or perhaps a plate of classic buffalo wings using habanero chilli peppers as the spicy base. Did that, tried that, but the level of spiciness of these wings wasn&#8217;t very convincing (hence no recipe for that here).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I tried the taste of the habanero sauce and decided that its tartness may bode well as a marinade for baked fish. Did that, tried that, and all&#8217;s well ends well! I love that the sauce wasn&#8217;t overwhelming but instead helped to enhance the freshness of the fish. Yum!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><strong>Ingredients (Habanero Sauce):<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ripe mango: 2, diced<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Habanero: 3 (or more if you wish)<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Carrot: 1\/2, cut into chunks<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Green onion: 3, roughly chopped<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Large lime: 1<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Rice vinegar: 3 tbsp<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Salt: 1\/2 tsp<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Ingredients (Main Dish):<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Salmon steak: 4 pieces, about 200g each<\/li>\n<li>Salt: 1\/2 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Ground blackpepper: 1\/2 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Mini asparagus: 2 packs (about 200g)<\/li>\n<li>Honey cherry tomato: 1 pack (about 200g)<\/li>\n<li>Olive oil: 4 tbsp<\/li>\n<li>Lemon: 2, sliced<\/li>\n<li>Chive: 50g, snipped with scissors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Method<\/strong><\/em>:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Blend mangoes, habaneros, carrot &amp; green onion till a smooth paste forms.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Transfer paste to a saucepan.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Add lime juice, rice vinegar and salt. Simmer on low heat for 10 min.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Set sauce aside to cool.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Preheat oven at 200 degrees Celsius.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Marinate both sides of salmon steaks with salt and blackpepper.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Place salmon steaks onto an aluminium foil, on a baking tray.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Place asparagus and cherry tomatoes around steaks on the foil.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Drizzle olive oil onto salmon and vegetables.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Spoon about 3 &#8211; 4 tbsp mango habanero sauce onto each steak.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Place 2 lemon slices on top of sauce on each steak.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Squeeze out the remaining lemon slices onto the vegetables. Top off with chives.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Fold aluminium foil over salmon steaks to wrap everything into a bundle.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Bake 30min till salmon steaks are cooked through.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/peepor.net\/pint\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Baked-Salmon-With-Habanero-Sauce-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-9526\" alt=\"Baked Salmon With Habanero Sauce 2\" src=\"https:\/\/peepor.net\/pint\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Baked-Salmon-With-Habanero-Sauce-2.jpg\" width=\"650\" height=\"411\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Trick<\/strong><\/em>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">You can make extra mango habanero sauce and freeze it for up to a few months.
