I’m done with work. No more emails. No more Whatsapp text messages. No more questions. No more polite replies to be made. I got out of at least twenty chatgroups in Whatsapp this morning. My phone was so quiet for the whole day today it felt a little bit uneasy. It was as if I have disappeared from the world and nobody remembered me or needed me anymore.
I know it sounds ironic and all, having waited for this day for such a long time since I started work here. I yearned for the quiet retreat from work and people. I desperately wanted to get away from all the masquerade and sometimes superficial idle banters at the top levels. Now that I can finally start to enjoy some peace and quiet, I think I will actually need to take some time to get used to this new pace of life.
Nevertheless, I’m very sure I will get used to this slower pace soon enough. I know that if I don’t, I’m going to lose it all again after one year. I am excitedly looking forward to all the things I will be doing, for myself, for my family and for the things that I love and truly believe in, without needing to think too much about what other people think.
So it’s time to sit back and enjoy a cuppa tea and some sandwich. Here’s an easy sandwich recipe for all of you who hate cooking. Just put everything together all at once and there you go! No oven and stove required!
