Nice To Slurp Banana Berry Smoothie

It’s healthy. It’s berry nice. It’s smooth and sweet. And it’s frozen chilled.

It’s the September school holidays again. Am keeping my fingers crossed it’s not going to get too crowded outside and over the weekend. In any case, it’s time to chill and sit back and enjoy a bit of the sun, however much there is during this monsoon season. Also hoping for a sunnier weather in the days ahead.

I love this drink solely because of its colour. It’s purplish pink and tastes much like a slurpee. For somebody like me who doesn’t really like banana (because it smells horrible), the banana taste is forgivably faint so it makes drinking it a lot more enjoyable than I thought it would be. It’s also very filling (burp) due to its high sugar (plus maple syrup) content but worth the effort if it gets you high and going. It did for me!

Ingredients:

  • Vanilla ice-cream: 500ml
  • Banana: 1, large, skin removed and frozen for 1hr
  • Raspberry/blueberries: 125g, frozen for 1hr
  • Sugar/maple syrup: 2 tbsp

Method:

  1. Blend together ice-cream, banana, berries and sugar till smooth.
  2. Garnish with more berries. Serve immediately.

Serving:
2 medium-sized cups or 3 small cups
