The raindrop cake, originating from Japan, is actually a very recent creation and hype, during our time you would say. It is basically a simple jelly that’s made from water and agar agar powder. This creation is supposed to mimic raindrop, such that it is transparent, like a raindrop, and is able to hold its shape so that it in turn becomes edible – a true imagination that came to life indeed.
French toasts used to be a dish typically served during Western style breakfasts, together with sweet accompaniments such as maple syrup, sweet berries (e.g. strawberries, blueberries) and butter to up the flavours. It’s been almost two weeks since the Circuit Breaker was lifted. Working from home without the little one around has made lift a lot less stressful and a lot more predictable because I could actually make plans about what I had to do and fulfill these plans accordingly. Having the big guy at home with me also makes the day pass by a lot faster – there is somebody right beside to discuss the news with me, make small talk, complain to about the stresses at work and decide what to eat or not. Maybe, just maybe, it’s not a bad thing to work from home after all. Would this really become the new norm?
This is a Chinese recipe that uses eight really healthy ingredients for brewing into a really healthy congee dish. It is supposedly a dish served during the cold months of winter as it keeps the body and mind warm. However, I must admit one has to be somebody who loves his grains and nuts to be able to like this dish as the rice and beans can make this dish slightly on the denser and starchier side, with loads of nuts to chew on as well.
Next week will be the first week during which the Circuit Breaker will be lifted (i.e. Phase 1 of CB being lifted). To be honest, nothing much is going to happen yet, except that the kids will be allowed back in school to learn from their teachers and to ‘play with’ and interact with their friends. I am really not too sure if this is the best decision made by the government so far, but I am looking forward to a much needed break from the dual role of HBL and WFH after two months of it. Two full months of it. Eight weeks. 56 days. 672 hours in all. Let’s hope the kid takes it well; more importantly is the fact that the situation remains contained with no sudden rise in cases of COVID again.
