It’s the end of the year and I am feeling in denial about entering the new year because I’m not sure what to expect. Work will get busier again . The boy is growing bigger by the day and I am growing older by the seconds. I am loving every minute that I spend with my family in this year and I wish to have more of it in the coming year. Would I be able to get my wish? Hopefully – fingers crossed.
We finally watched Frozen I, all thanks to the little one. He got his fix of the movie that came out six years ago (I didn’t realise it was so long ago!!) in Taiwan, in the hotel at Jiantan in Taipei because of his Netflix luck and both adults got to watch it as well, willingly or not. It was actually quite a nice movie I must say, quite humorous, with very interesting characters and really catchy songs. Really really catchy. I got hooked on to them too!
The German grüne Soße (literally ‘green sauce’) is commonly found in the Hesse state of Germany, including Frankfurt am Main and Kassel. While the guy was doing his stint in Frankfurt back in 2011, we’ve had quite many opportunities to try out this dish, though I must say it did come across as a very strange dish back then because of its name and colour. The weirdest thing is that the sauce is served chilled, and the rest of the ingredients such as the eggs and potatos hot. My mum always told me since I was young that we should not eat things served cold and hot at the same time because it gives us tummy aches!
This is a weekend attempt at a recipe that would help to use up my glutinous rice at home. It’s a Peranakan or Nyonya dish called ‘Pulut Rempah Udang‘ which translates to glutinous rice with shrimp. Basically, it is a rice dumpling wrapped up in banana leaves, with a filling that is made up of fresh shrimp, dried shrimp and/or a spicy paste, depending on one’s preference.
Had a break from blogging last weekend as we flew to Taipei, Taiwan, for a short holiday then, hence there was no entry for any recipes last weekend. So sorry to have kept everyone waiting for recipes!
