I love carbonara. The boys love it too. It’s not too difficult to prepare and the best thing is everyone finishes every single bits on their plates after the meal, well, at least most of the time.

This dish looks simple and unappetising at first sight. Just a bowl of soup with a lot of greens in it. It’s akin to the small bowl of soup that hawkers place alongside your bowl of bak chor mee and chicken rice. But precisely because they are just accompaniments, they should not be overwhelming – with simple flavours, easy for the palette and easy to digest.

It was such a busy week. I think my family and I deserve a nice cup of something sweet, and this mango treat works best because it is hassle-free, sweet, and a perfect way to end off the weekend.

I don’t usually eat beef or steaks because they taste too gamey for me. The rare occasions when I do is when we eat shabu shabu or when we go to the grills to cook the expensive slices of steak. Hahaha yes, I only eat the expensive cuts of beef, but really, that’s because these cuts are not as gamey in taste – the kind that melts in your mouth, literally. I am otherwise a heartlander at heart.
